Why retire in Clifton? Well, as the old sonnet goes, “Let me count the ways.”

For generations, Clifton has been a place which has beckoned those who spent childhoods here to return home to raise families of their own in the beautiful small town atmosphere they so cherished from their youth. Today more and more folks, many without a local connection, are making Clifton their home upon retirement for the very same reasons.

Clifton and Bosque County boast some of the most scenic countryside to be found in Texas. Nestled in the rolling hills and valley of the winding Bosque River, Clifton retains its unique history and small town charm of days gone by, while moving forward as a growing community well suited for today’s changing times and retiree needs.

Clifton is home to modern first-class medical care and retiree housing. Other attributes include entertainment venues, innumerable historic, educational, civic and service organizations, varied church denominations, and affordable living. Clifton is a Texas Main Street City, with a historic downtown district which has charmed locals and visitors alike for generations. Clifton is perfectly located within a two hour drive of both Austin and Dallas/Fort Worth. Just far enough from the hustle and bustle of the “big city,” but close enough for convenience when necessary.

Clifton is one of only 40 Certified Retirement Communities in Texas. The program is sponsored through the Texas Department of Agriculture. To qualify for the distinction, communities must undergo a rigorous application process based upon a myriad of desirability assessments geared to retiree needs and desires. Clifton is proud to have met and exceeded all requirements for this special certification.

Clifton is not only a great place to grow up, it’s a great place to grow and be enriched in every phase of life.

No matter one’s age, Clifton truly has it all.
